Abstract

Digitalization is transforming the business environment worldwide, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises. However, in regions such as Puno, where family businesses predominate, the level of technology adoption is heterogeneous due to factors such as limited digital infrastructure, resistance to change, and restricted access to technological resources. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between digitalization and the performance of family businesses in the Puno region. The research was correlational in nature, with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 99 workers from family businesses, selected through non-probability convenience sampling. For data collection, two validated instruments were applied: the Digitalization Scale and the Family Business Performance Scale. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman’s Rho correlation test, obtaining a coefficient of 0.387 (p = 0.000), which shows a positive and significant relationship between both variables. It is concluded that digitalization improves the performance of family businesses in the Puno region, being a key factor for their competitiveness and sustainability.
