Impact of the Scrum model on the organizational performance of software development projects.

Abstract

Software project management in Guayaquil, Ecuador, faces recurring challenges associated with delivery delays, budget deviations, quality issues, which affects business competitiveness and customer satisfaction; in this context, the objective of the study was to analyze the impact of the Scrum model on the organizational performance of software development projects. A quantitative approach with a descriptive-correlational design was adopted, complemented by a systematic review of literature on agile methodologies, Scrum-PMBOK integration and previous implementation experiences, which allowed to theoretically support the variables analyzed. A structured questionnaire was applied to 56 professionals in the sector and descriptive statistical analyses, reliability tests and Pearson correlations were carried out using the Jamovi software. The results showed positive and statistically significant correlations (p < 0.001) between the adoption of new ways of working and variables such as adaptability and flexibility (r = 0.69381), software improvement (r = 0.70458) and perception of organizational improvement (r = 0.68962). Likewise, the items "Agile reduces time" (r = 0.6907) and "Implementation" (r = 0.6877) showed high internal consistency, while variables such as "Delivery delays" presented low or negative correlations. It is concluded that the structured implementation of Scrum is significantly associated with improvements in efficiency, adaptability and quality of the software, constituting a viable strategy to strengthen the organizational performance and competitiveness of the technology sector in Guayaquil.
