A Bibliometric Analysis in the Global Financial Context

Abstract

This bibliometric study examines the evolution of credit risk between 2019 and 2024, highlighting its impact on financial stability and risk management, particularly in Latin America. Based on the analysis of 399 documents and 198 academic sources, key trends are identified, including the relationship between credit risk and macroeconomic factors, the role of monetary policies, and the adoption of advanced predictive models in credit assessment.

Indicators such as the h-index, total citation count, and SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) were applied to evaluate the relevance and dissemination of research in this field. Influential authors and publications are highlighted, with the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, and China leading academic production on the topic.

The methodology integrates quantitative and qualitative analysis using tools like VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel, enabling the examination of co-occurrence networks, geographic distribution of publications, and academic collaboration. The findings underscore the need for credit transparency, robust regulatory frameworks, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in solvency evaluation.

Key dimensions of credit risk are identified default probability, credit history, solvency, and liquidity demonstrating the complexity of its analysis. The study concludes with recommendations for future research, including the development of predictive models based on big data, the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria in credit evaluation, and the exploration of risk mitigation strategies in emerging markets.
